It's a new name for our quarterly, but our basic message remains the same: Investing your pocket change ... money you'd never otherwise notice, invest, or miss ... is a painless, powerful way to insure a financially free future.
Folks who met us through The Banker's Secret Bulletin, book, or computer programs, know we're consumer advocates (or, more accurately, "non-consuming advocates"). But our former name had the rest of the world thinking our newsletter was a publication for bankers.
Au contraire. We've dedicated the last 11 years to teaching Americans how to save money ... especially on their mortgage interest, credit card bills, and other debts. So we needed a new name, one that better captured our essence.
While our newsletter's primary focus is on money ... the only human invention that occupies more brain time than sex ... money is my least important personal concern.
Nancy and I chose to leave the fast track years ago. We live a quiet, simple life in a rented home on a 350-acre farm about 100 miles north of New York City. We're not wealthy in the conventional sense, but we are in every other way. By living debt-free, we can afford to work (or not work) as and when we choose. That's a luxury I relish, and want to make possible for you --- and your kids, too.
With 5,400 teens dying on our roads every year, the most important investment opportunity we offer you in this issue is the opportunity to invest some of your time in protecting your children.
"Before You Hand Over the Keys" is a 17-step course in training teens to be safe, defensive drivers ... before you let them out to fend for themselves in a one-ton killing machine.
Staying with the car key theme, this issue also tells you "What to Do When the Lease Bug Bites." About 29% of all new car keys are pocketed by people who've decided to lease. Dealers love to lease, because they can earn twice the profit that they make on a standard sale.
If you're thinking of leasing a new car, our tips should save you a bundle. Buying or leasing a good used car instead would save you a lot more. See page #6 for The Pocket Change Investor way to pick a pre-owned winner.
And for a foolproof way to get your first credit card --- or to re-establish credit --- read "No Credit? Bad Credit? No Problem." On the other hand, if you have a great credit history and want to get a really low interest card, "Good Credit? How Low Can You Go?" lists four of the best.
Welcome to the The Pocket Change Investor. May we help you to "live long and prosper," well into the new millenium.
Happy savings,
Marc Eisenson
P.S. We'd like to meet as many potential subscribers as possible, so we'll happily send a sample copy to everyone who mails us $1 (no calls, please). Thanks for your help!
